The Rabbi Leo M. Franklin Archives supports an Annual Archives Luncheon Program with lectures presented by scholars who have used research from the Archives for publication. Past scholars have included Neil Baldwin (2001), who presented his book "Henry Ford and the Jews," and Wendy Rose Bice (2002), who presented her book "A Timeless Treasure," which was published on the centennial of the Fresh Air Society Camp. The Archives has also presented Irwin Cohen (2002) reviewing his pictorial history, "Jewish Detroit" - a program done in conjunction with Oak Park Public Library. In May of 2003 the Archives presented Victoria Saker Woeste who discussed her research "Suing Henry Ford: Antisemitism and Law in Modern America," a timely topic during the Ford Centennial.
If you would like to be on our mailing list for Archives events, please contact the Archives. The Archives also presents a workshop series covering topics such as "How to Conduct Oral Histories" and "The Care of Photographs" at different times during the year. Please contact the Archives for more information.
The Archives participates in an active Oral History Program to capture the legacy of Temple Beth El congregants. If you are interested in conducting oral history interviews or would like to volunteer to be interviewed, please contact the Archives.
