The Bad Axe Colony, called Palestine by the residents, was a Jewish agricultural settlement in Bad Axe, Michigan. Begun in 1891 by sixteen orthodox Russian Jewish immigrants, the colony declined and disappeared by the turn of the century. The group received assistance from Temple Beth El and Baro de HIrsch Fund (NY). |
