Abstract The Stanley Clamage Collection consists of clippings, correspondence, lectures, programs and sermons relating to Mr. Clamages activities as a scholar. The Collection consists primarily of the lectures and sermons that Mr. Clamage presented at schools, churches and community centers (c. 1980-1994). The collection also contains materials relating to the Torah Class and Docent Committee of Temple Beth El, both founded by Mr. Clamage.

Admin/Biog History Stanley Clamage was born on July 23, 1913. He married Selma Lumel (b. January 15, 1918) on September 8, 1940, and became a member of Temple Beth El in July of the same year. Mr. Clamage was a manufacturer's representative in the wholesale furniture business for over 50 years. Mr. Clamages activities at Temple Beth El covers over 60 years. He has been on the Board of Trustees, President of the Brotherhood (1968-69), founder or the Docent Committee, and founder of the Torah Class (1973). The Docent committee and the Torah Class continue until this day. Mr. Clamage, a self taught historian and scholar,gave lectures to schools, church groups. community colleges and the Jewish Community Center on various topics of Judaism from c. 1980-1994. He also gave sermons on the High Holy days at Temple Beth El in Alpena, Temple Beth El in Battle Creek, and the Jewish Community Center.
