Samuel Hamburger founded the Production Steel Co. in 1932. For twenty years he was treasurer of the Allied Jewish Campaign and was a strong supporter of Israel Bonds. In 1971, Samuel and his wife, Miriam, were presented with the Israel Prime Minister's Medal. His contributions led Sinai Hospital to co-name the Hamburger Jospey Medical Research Center after him. He was also a strong supporter of the Detroit Institute of Art and Children's Hospital of Michigan. He was a member of Congregation Shareey Zedek, Temple Emanu-El and Franklin Hills Country Club. Miriam Hamburger served on the Board of Governors of the Jewish Welfare Federation, and on its capital needs committee. She is a long-time member of the board of trustees of Children's Hospital of Michigan. She was a member of Shareey Zedek and Temple Emanu-El. She received along with her husband the Prime Minister of the State of Israel Medal, in 1971. |
