Abstract The Engraving Plate Collection consists of 309 halftone plates. The halftone plates are composed of individual metal plates or metal plates mounted on wooden blocks. The halftone plates are photographs of individuals, groups, buildings and graphics of Temple Beth El c. 1880-1970. The collection also contains proofs of all of the plates, available in the index.
Admin/Biog History The Engraving Plates Collection contains plates consisting of individuals, groups, buildings and graphics. These reproductions were used in The Beth El Story by Irving Katz, published by the Wayne State Press (1955), the Temple Beth El Bulletin's (c. 1920-1950) and Yearbooks (c. 1850-1940), The Jewish American (c. 1900-1911), Jewish Chronicle newspaper, pamphlets and programs. An estimated 75% of the plates were found in Temple Beth El publications and newspapers. There are many plates still unidentified. A detailed guide and index with proofs are available.
