Admin/Biog History When B'nai B'rith was established by Henry Jones on October 13, 1843 in New York, it created something new - a Jewish fraternal and service organization with a program sufficiently broad and flexible to embrace all aspects of Jewish life and to win the adhesion of all elements of the Jewish community. In May of 1857 members of Temple Beth El in Detroit met to discuss the need of an organization that would give help and support not only to the community, but also immigrants. Pisgah Lodge is the second oldest Jewish organization in Michigan. Later other lodges would form, including the Louis Marshall Lodge. Today, B'nai B'rith is still a vital part of the Jewish Community in Detroit.
