| Abstract |
The Elazar Family Collection consists of a family tree, and a wedding photograph. It also contains a book titled: "Jewish Education and Jewish Statesmanship: Albert Elazar Memorial Book." This text was edited by Daniel J. Elazar, and contains original articles written by Albert Elazar's students and colleagues in his memory. Among other materials in this collection are reproductions of Albert Elazar's British Palestinian passport, Certificate of Arrival, Declaration of Intention, Oath of Allegiance, and Petition of Citizenship. This collection contains a 1967 original typewritten copy of the Elazar Classification System for Judaic Libraries. An Index to the Elazar Classification System is also included along with correspondence and order forms pertaining to the text. David H. Elazar also donated an article titled : "The Making of a Classification Scheme for Libraries of Judaica." It is based upon a presentation that he made at the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions
Conference in 2000. In 1969/1970, David Elazar was appointed as campus representative for the American Zionist Youth Foundation at Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan). Mr. Elazar has donated papers, documents and correspondence that pertain to his work as a campus representative, that supported his arguments as a Youth Foundation representative, and the coordination of a trip to Israel for a leader of the New Left. |
